NJSIAA Executive Committee

Overview:

The NJSIAA Executive Committee is composed of 51-individuals representing the following categories:

  1. 21 public high school representatives;
  2. 4 non-public high school representatives;
  3. 14 ex-officio representatives; and,
  4. 12 at-large representatives.

The committee meets 10 times per school year while the subcommittees listed below meet as needed.  All members of each subcommittee are current members of the Executive Committee.

  1. Eligibility Appeals Committee
  2. Program Review Committee
  3. Finance Committee
  4. Personnel Committee
  5. Cooperative Sports Appeals Committee
  6. League & Conference Appeals Committee

The Executive Committee has the authority to enact or amend the Association’s Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.  Bylaws may only be enacted or amended by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Executive Committee.  Rules and Regulations may be enacted by a majority vote.  Proposals to enact or amend the Association’s Bylaws and Rules and Regulations will have two votes of the Executive Committee – a first reading and a second reading – before final passage. NJSIAA staff or a member of the Executive Committee may submit a proposal to the Executive Committee for their consideration.

The Executive Committee is also responsible for overseeing the management of NJSIAA sanctioned state tournaments.  Changes to tournament regulations in any sport must be approved by the Executive Committee.  Based on feedback from key stakeholders in that sport, NJSIAA staff will submit a proposal to the Executive Committee.  The Program Review subcommittee will first review any proposal.  If the Program Review subcommittee endorses a proposal, then the proposal will be presented to the Executive Committee at its next regularly scheduled meeting.  Proposals to change the tournament regulations in any sport will have one vote of the Executive Committee and will require a majority vote.
